“Never wish life were easier, wish that you were better”

That’s a famous quote by Jim Rohn. If you haven’t studied any of Jim Rohn’s works, I would highly recommend it. He’s one of the founding fathers of personal development. And that quote, during this period of business, is so important.

For many of us right now, it’s some of the most challenging times that we’ve ever experienced in business. And a lot of it is not because of poor management or poor business decisions, it’s just circumstantial based on the pandemic.

But here’s the thing, you, as an owner, need to continually be working on yourself and rising above these things to push through. And those that find themselves on the other side of this will be more resilient, will be more robust and their business will have greater success than was ever imagined. Because you’ve had to grow personally and professionally to make it to the other side.

One of the early commitments I made in my business career was too constant, never-ending improvement. I remember hearing that saying at a Tony Robbins event that I attended. Every day I’m working on me, whether it’s listening to an audiobook, whether it’s reading, whether it’s a podcast, whether it’s a YouTube clip, whether it’s studying a course that I might be involved in.

I’m also working harder on my daily rituals. My affirmations, my gratitudes, my desire statement, my journaling. Making sure that I’m really, really well time managed. Asking myself, is this going to make the boat go faster? Is what I’m doing today going to move me one step closer to where I want to be in the future?

Constantly working on me, not just in and on my business.

Because at the end of the day, you as an owner, will set the pulse of the growth in your company. You’re going to have some challenging times ahead, and any of you that don’t believe that’s true, I think it’s a little bit naive given the current circumstances.

So it’s vitally important that you look after you first and make sure you’re continuously rising above, challenging yourself and pushing through so that you and your company will make it through to the other side.
